Can the Esperanza program be used in the classroom?

The Esperanza program can be used in the classroom.  Teachers can use the program for small group instruction for students who struggle with learning to read. 

Can we use the Esperanza program as our Spanish dyslexia intervention program?

Esperanza can be used for native Spanish speakers who have been identified with dyslexia or exhibit characteristics of dyslexia. 

Can the Esperanza program be implemented by an individual who does not speak Spanish?

The Esperanza program should be implemented by an instructor who is qualified and who has the ability to deliver instruction in Spanish. 

If a student receives Spanish instruction in the classroom can my intervention program be administered in English?

The language used during an intervention program should match the language of instruction used in the classroom.

Can Words of our World (WOW) be used to improve vocabulary skills of English speaking students?

Words of our World (WOW) can be used for students who speak English and want to learn vocabulary by studying the structure of words.  This knowledge can be applied for learning words in the Spanish language which are either cognates or have similar word origins.

Can Words of our World (WOW) be used with Spanish speaking students?

Words of our World can be used with students who are English language learners.  The lessons are designed to help students who are native Spanish speakers understand the similarities of words and word origins within and across the two languages.  Sixty percent of the English language is derived from Latin.  Spanish speakers can expand their English vocabulary skills by making use of their existing word knowledge and applying  this knowledge for learning new words in English.
